Like all the rest of you, I've heard Edwards say he isn't interested in being Vice President under Kerry. Of course, this is what you're supposed to say if you're a serious Presidential candidate. My first question: Is Edwards serious about rejecting that kind of offer, or will he be amenable when the time comes around if Kerry is the nominee?
Everyone agrees that Edwards is one heck of a talker. That's one of the big reasons I support him on electability grounds-- he'll be able to genuinely convince people to come over to our side. My second question: Will a VP candidate Edwards get enough opportunities to persuade? I don't want a mediocre speaker like Kerry taking too much time away from him.
Another reason I like Edwards for president is that he may give us coattails in the South. Southern Dems will run towards his populist message, not away from him as they'll have to with Kerry. My third question: How would a Kerry / Edwards ticket impact Southern congressional races?
The major policy reason I like Edwards is his massive redistributionist program. I don't think anyone else has the detailed program of tax cuts for the poor that he does, plus a free year of public college for kids who do community service. My last question: How much of this would go into the platform of a Kerry/Edwards ticket?
Thanks in advance to all of you who respond.
